My favourite booklet

Imagine
Dear 5th grade students, during this period of isolation you will have to keep up the good work and exercise your English reading. In the comments below, copy a short paragraph from the reader you received at school ( or you have at home), of about 4 lines. Then, you will say why you chose that passage, why you liked it . Maybe it reminds you of something, maybe you find it inspiring, or maybe it helped you learn the meaning of a new word. At the end of the comment, in brackets, you write your initials ( not the entire name!). In romana: pe langa rezumatul carticicii in engleza pe care o s-o cititi saptamana aceasta si cealalta, vreau aici, in comentariul la acest post sa copiati in engleza un mic paragraf din reading-ul vostru ( de maxim 4 randuri), si sa oferiti un motiv pentru care ati ales acest pasaj.( de aprox 50 de cuvinte). Stay healthy and safely in! Yours, Teacher DCS

Dear CORONAvirus,

Imagine
Dear 6th grade students , once you have finished your homework, you will add in the comments below a 70 word letter addressed either to the infamous virus which keeps us home these days, or to any other little creature you have come across in the unit we are currently studying. It can be a letter, or a set of questions and answers ( an imaginary dialogue) that you might have with the tiny creature. Don't be afraid, be creative and ... convincing! I am looking forward to your comments.  Deadline: April 1 ( this is not a joke), or earlier. In brackets, at the end of your homework, insert your initials ( not the entire name!). Keep up the good work! Photo credit: Reading Explorer 1 ( Cengage Learning) Yours, Teacher DCS

Predarea in Generatia Twitter

To my London Trainers

Imagine
Dear trainers, Here there are my commitments for the years to come: As a teacher I will definitely integrate many things I have learned in London in my teaching.   Google rocks and rolls(!)   and gives all teachers the possibility to keep in touch, to be in touch with most recent changes. The “engrade” platform or other similar will soon become useful tools in the students’ evaluation, as well as an instrument of communication between school and parents, teachers and students, school and community, secure and safe, very updated and reliable. I particularly liked the Rubistar invention, and this comes as a bless in disguise for many of us that have been struggling for years to measure and shade different performances of our students for whom critical thinking and objectivity must become prerequisites of their further development. I will do my best to seed in them the curiosity for new discoveries, to encourage them to give way to all their creativity, to remain enthusiasti
AUDIO BASED LEARNING ACTIVITY LEVEL - intermediate, 7 th or 8 th grade; SKILLS - speaking, listening, writing Introduction: This activity is connected to the students’ prior knowledge referring to the use of past tenses in short talks about past activities. They have to mind the correct use of auxiliary DID and the short infinitive of the verb, as well as the correct use o the past tense of irregular verbs. Most of the times, for the sake of fluency, people “sprinkle” their speech with fillers, linkers, collocations that contribute to a better fluency. Task: A student (voluntarily or not) will have to record himself/herself talking about what he/she did last weekend. Based on his/her speech, the students in the classrooms will have to use affirmative and negative sentences to talk about their assumptions pertaining to their peer’s last weekend activities. The skills practiced include: writing (questions), listening (to someone’s speaking), speaking (the
Hand out 3_Electronic Assessment Plan With your home group, identify a learning outcome appropriate to your shared subject matter and student grade level. Then list ways you or your students can use different electronic tools to reach and assess that outcome. You will learn more about how to generate and use the tools later In the class and will have the opportunity to revise your plans. Complete the handout digitally or transfer your results from this paper. Learning Outcome -           gaining mastery of computeracy in general along with improvement of vocabulary, reading skills, as well as all other skills Games/Test & Quiz Makers/Flashcards -suitable for grammar drills, vocabulary exercises Students – it is easier for them learn chunks of language, in genuine/authentic contexts; for students with a higher visual intelligence level using flashcards or visuals will help them improve vocabulary; Teachers  have at hand a great too that

WebQuest

This afternoon, four teachers met at the National Library and talked about the impact of their training upon their present teaching. Among them, me included. We are surely changed and we want this to be obvious. After complaining about the difficulties in making things work out, we enjoyed a nice cup of coffee and a delicious chocolate-covered- cocoa-mousse that made our neurons go wild. Full of admiration when glancing at some Conservatory musicians having a show in the hall, we headed home, our heads swarming with ideas. Our trainers encouraged us to think out a list of commitments. I haven't finished it yet, but after all, aren't all big things made up of small-stepped actions?! Here is a tiny little proof: my first webquest which went on and on forever....probably not the best idea today, but one that can be improved tomorrow. I myself find real joy in my readings and I am perfectly aware my students will not cheer with joy at that, but the exams such as IELTS, SAT, TOEFL
